Elijah Project: Day 3

All of the following information comes from Operation World by Jason Mandryke and is in no way my own work.

Country: Albania

Albania broke free from a communist government in the 1990’s and has practiced total religious freedom since 1998.

However, it still remains one of Europe’s two poorest nations and is still rebuilding from the years of communist reign. 

What to pray for:

1) In this time of rebuilding, both politically and economically, pray for influence from Christian leaders. This is a very crucial time in their history and Biblical ethics are not very common in these areas.

2) 62% of the nation of Albania is Muslim with a 2% growth increase each year. Christianity on the other hand is steadily declining by .5%.

Although the freedom of religion is cherished by Albanians, many don’t wish to fall into “religious entrenchment” and the superstition and folk Islam is what draws them.

3) Along with this Muslim growth, there is unfortunately fewer long term missionaries in Albany than when the communist hold first fell. Pray that many leaders will rise up in their own country to bring discipleship.

· Pray for leadership training, evangelism and church planting, a new growth of holistic missions, and for the missionaries that are being sent out from Albania. 

What the Lord put on my heart through prayer

A warrior’s spirit of love

  In this vulnerable time, I just pray that you would ignite a fire in the Albanian church to fight for their country. I pray for new creative, out of the box ideas to reach people. And over all I pray for love. That they wouldn’t look at their people as a project, but that you would give them hearts for individuals. That they wouldn’t hear of someone being Muslim, or having a hazy mindset on religion at all, and just write them off or give them text book answers to why they’re wrong. But I pray that you would help the churches of Albania to be listeners. That there would just be a huge difference in the way they live and interact with people. That Your love would be written in every action.

Father I pray that this would be their battle cry. LOVE. I pray for a warrior’s spirit to fight through prayer and the patience and love of a shepherd as they speak to people.

Joseph-like Leaders

Father I pray for spiritual leaders within politics. What a crucial time of rebuilding that they are going through. I pray specifically for this generation, that there would be trusted advisors that would speak biblical principles into the new system of government. Like Joseph, that there would be God fearing men with great influence. 

Joy in service

God a pray for a heart to serve. I pray that you would just fill the churches with that heart to love and serve their people. That it would open doors and that they would stand out because of it. And I just pray for encouragement for them as well. That you would just show them that you are listening and working in them. Keep them going and father, keep them joyful. 

Youth

 

 I just want to pray specifically for the youth of Albania. I feel like a lot of change is going to come through the youth and the rising generation. Father I pray that that passionate spirit that you have given youth would just turn into a fiery passion for you to be famous. I pray for boldness and sincerity in the youth of Albania as they proclaim your name, and I pray that they are not easily faltered.

I pray that you would just create in them a foundation that can not be shaken. I just speak confidence over them that they wouldn’t fall into the religious haze that is engulfing the country, but that they would be lights within that haze that stand firm on their faith in Jesus Christ.
